Why Choose Hollywood Bulldogs AUS
Stud selection here begins with genotype, not appearance.
Hollywood Bulldogs AUS is one of Australiaβs leading evidence-based British Bulldog breeding programs, trusted by families and by fellow breeders. The same standards applied to our own litters apply to every external pairing we approve.
Documented genetics for every stud
ADAMTS3 copy number and DNA panel results are recorded and shared, so a pairing can be modelled before a season starts.
Airway function assessed, not assumed
Studs offered for service breathe and move without surgical intervention.
Veterinary reproductive oversight
Collection, preparation and processing are performed by reproductive veterinary specialists with 30+ years of practice.
Pairing rules applied without exception
One-copy ADAMTS3 dogs are never paired together, and 0-copy dogs are retained within the program rather than sold.
Balanced selection criteria
Health, structure and temperament are weighted together rather than traded against colour.
Breeder-to-breeder transparency
Reports, pedigrees and limitations are provided in full, including where a stud is unproven.
| Typical Bulldog stud | Hollywood Bulldogs AUS stud |

Health & DNA Testing
What health testing should a stud dog have?
A stud dog should carry a documented multi-panel DNA screen, an ADAMTS3 genotype, an assessment of airway function and structure, and current semen analysis where collection is offered. Reports, not assurances.
6-Panel Clinical Clear
Multi-panel DNA screening completed before a dog enters stud service, with results supplied on request.
ADAMTS3 genotype
Copy number established by DNA test and stated on every stud profile.
Fertility documentation
Sperm count, motility and morphology assessed by reproductive veterinary specialists.
ADAMTS3 Program
What is ADAMTS3, and why does it matter in breeding?
ADAMTS3 is a gene associated with airway-related soft tissue and oedema traits in brachycephalic dogs. Variants at this locus have been reported in association with brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome risk (Marchant et al., 2019). A dog carries zero, one or two copies of the variant, and copy number is established by DNA test.
Because copy number is inherited, the parentsβ genotypes determine the range of genotypes possible in a litter. Knowing both results before mating is what makes the decision an informed one. ADAMTS3 status is one factor among several and is not a guarantee of respiratory outcome in an individual dog.
- Every stud is genotyped for ADAMTS3 before entering service.
- One-copy dogs are never paired with other one-copy dogs.
- 0-copy dogs are retained within the program rather than sold.
- Copy number is stated on every stud profile, including unproven dogs.
Pedigrees
Verified lines, supplied on request
Hollywood Bulldogs AUS studs hold MDBA and international pedigrees. Pedigree documentation is provided during the enquiry process so line duplication and relatedness can be checked against your dam before a pairing is approved.
Proven Results
Documented, and limited to what we can evidence
- 6 of 7 studs currently in service are proven sires with documented litters.
- Semen analysis, including count, motility and morphology, is recorded by reproductive veterinary specialists.
- Unproven dogs are labelled as unproven. No outcome claims are made for dogs without litters on the ground.
Semen Collection & Shipping Process
Fresh, chilled and frozen semen, Australia-wide
- 1
Enquiry and suitability review
Dam DNA results, ADAMTS3 status, structure, breeding goal and timing are reviewed.
- 2

A stud is matched to the dam and collection is scheduled around her season.
- 3
Veterinary collection
Collection and preparation are performed by reproductive veterinary specialists.
- 4

Count, motility and morphology are assessed and documented before release.
- 5
Packaging and dispatch
Temperature-controlled packaging appropriate to fresh, chilled or frozen shipment.
- 6
Transport and insemination
Transport bookings such as flights and couriers remain the buyer's responsibility; insemination is performed by your veterinarian.
Breeding Requirements
What we ask of the dam before approving a stud
These requirements exist so the resulting litter carries less known genetic risk than the generation before it. They apply to every enquiry, including repeat clients.
- Current multi-panel DNA results for the dam, supplied as a report
- ADAMTS3 genotype for the dam so copy number in the litter can be modelled
- Registered ownership and, where applicable, registry documentation
- Veterinary confirmation the dam is fit to be bred and whelped
- A stated breeding goal, expected season dates and semen format required
- Agreement that a pairing may be declined on genetic or welfare grounds
Frequently Asked Questions
Stud services questions, answered
More answers are consolidated in the FAQ Hub, terminology used above is defined in the Bulldog Glossary, and the standard behind these requirements is set out in Why Hollywood Bulldogs AUS.
Before You Enquire
Most stud decisions are improved by assessing the dam first. These breeder references cover ADAMTS3 copy status, DNA report interpretation, stud selection criteria and semen handling before a mating is booked.
Breeding Enquiry
Stud and Semen Enquiry
Stud suitability is assessed on the dam's DNA results, ADAMTS3 status, structure, temperament, breeding goal and timing. Share the essentials and we will take it from there.
